When posting a question about your Galaxie or other Ford (all are welcome), BE SURE to tell us what it is, what year, engine, etc so we have enough information to accurately answer questions.

Previous owner cut a hole in the tunnel of my 66 Galaxie 500 and swapped in a toploader 4 speed MT for the FMX AT (although my reference book say it is an FX). Not a bad idea except he never got it to work right. Daze explained that the "shimmy" problem was due to a shorter input shaft. Thankfully, he saved the metal from the "hole" and it will be welded back before I put the motor and AT back in the car.
The unfortunate decision mentioned above probably cost somewhere in the neighborhood of 30+ man hours and perhaps several hunderd dollars, all for naught.
