Beware of soda blasting

I was told by a supplier of the soda that there was some as yet not understood phenominum that caused the paint to fall off in sheets a year or two after painting a car that had been soda blasted. This bankrupted a body shop that did many vehicles this way.

Eastwood said it is not a problem so long as the car is properly washed after blasting.

Go to the autobodystore.com forum and learn about Picklex 20 before you do any priming. You should go there before you do any painting of any kind.

Phosphoric acid is also a good option It too will neutralize the soda... - Daze November 5, 2008, 7:53 pm
