Posted by slv kivioq on January 20, 2009, 10:23 pm, in reply to "i've heard chicks dig stunts like that; part i" * It had taken him precious time to rise, for his legs were hesitant to bear his weight as they stretched and flexed. Strandwolf had put some distance between them, and though it was recoverable it would take nearly all of Kivioq’s strength. He moved at a hobbled, awkward pace, moving as quickly as his body would allow while his legs protested viciously. He approached for Strandwolf’s left shoulder so that the two were perpendicular, knowing that this would be the safest positioning to avoid a serious counter attack on the viper’s part. It was sickening to increase their proximity again, but he did it all the same; the sooner he executed his attacks, the sooner he could be rid of the lightening stallion’s presence. Kivioq placed himself no more than two feet away, planted his uninjured hind legs and lifted his forehand off the ground. Surely Strandwolf was in motion, so Kivioq attacked rapidly (or with his much speed as he could, anyway). His left foreleg attacked in a mostly vertical motion, the idea being to create a significant gash between Strandwolf’s knee and pastern. If Strandwolf moved forward, Kivioq would still be likely to catch his joint as his leg bent and swung forward in stride. If he shied right, Kivioq would not be able to inflict the full attack, but would instead land only a glancing blow.

As he landed from the first attack, he was instantly adjusting, stepping to match his position with Strandwolf and maintain the same angling of their bodies. He struggled on his injured legs, surely inflicting more damage on his body by forcing it to work under such injuries. To aid himself, he utilized his combo for his second attack—his teeth sought for the skin around Strandwolf’s crest and withers as a way to balance himself. At the moment his teeth found purchase (whether it be hair or hide) he attacked again, executing the same motion as before but striking diagonally with his right hoof rather than vertically. Hopefully Strandwolf’s leg would already be ripped and bleeding from the first blow, leaving the tendons and bone more exposed for his second attack. The idea was to now cause structural damage to compliment the flesh wound. All the while Kivioq only attacked with his left foreleg. His right foreleg was simply too fragile since the injury was to his lower leg, and he could afford to put more stress on the foreleg that had sustained muscle damage instead. Still, his attacks didn’t pack nearly the power he wished, though he couldn’t have hoped to use his hind legs to attack when he could hardly place weight on his forehand.
Upon landing, Kivioq made an effort to separate himself from Strandwolf, pivoting on his still-sturdy hind legs to bring his whole body left and away from the stallion’s potential counter attacks. Hobbling away, he was still quite vulnerable; overall, Kivioq felt as though he had been sent into a lion’s den with a piece of meat as a shield. Though his element had fought back for all it could, the lightening had only become more enticed by his futile struggles.
Until then, the word “humble” had meant little to the stallion; now, his demeanor would not have been complete without such a descriptor.
