OOC: as a note, I don’t think that’s fair simply because Fire can burn the living hay out of you whenever it comes in contact – why can’t lightning? I don’t see anything on that page that specifies I can’t, though I may have missed it. :P
To say Alcatraz was surprised that Zakr was cantering through a foot of snow was an understatement – whether or not his incredulity registered on his face was another matter. Zakr, having the power to manipulate Earth, could not possibly manipulate the foot of water element underneath him. A foot of snow comes up about half-way up to the cannon bone. Alcatraz, being slightly self-preservative, had no wish to plow through the snow and strain something.
Alcatraz has never seen metal before, nor smelt it – the sweet sickening alloy that churned up Zakr’s legs intrigued him but did not deter him.
Lamesauce, he thinks. That’s cheating!
But at least, he thinks, his cow-kick of sorts (though not a true cowkick) hit home completely – basic laws of physics state the longer something is in motion (and continues in motion) the more momentum and velocity it can contain. His second attack hit home deliciously, though unfortunately, his well timed combo seemed to be eradicated and shrugged off.
When Alcatraz saw Zakr’s four black legs, he knew something was amiss. His eyes, bug-eyed and oogly, narrowed down on it as he prepared to uh… get out like a bat out of hell? All he had to do was succumb to the strongest instinct of all – flight; and flight it was. Keep in mind, Alcatraz is uninjured, and also has the convincing avoidance of pain (and of course, he hated that shuddering feeling of Earth penetrating his blood) in the back of his mind. He shied away from the blow using his revaal gait, which would give him some speed while being balanced in the footing. Unfortunately, the revaal is not incredibly fast (and in this footing, slower still), and Zakr’s metal hooves came slicing down upon the side of his cannon bone as his leg was extended (had he been bearing weight the blow would have been crippling). The pain was instant, white-hot and jagged – and explosive eruption of pure agony as flesh was cleaved from his side. Blood welled instantly, and in the snow..
Crimson splattered.
Alcatraz limped horrendously, his Lightning receiving double damage for the blow. And then, Zakr once more braved the slippery footing to do the same attack (though Alcatraz, thankfully, has now double incentive to avoid contact with suppressing Earth), and once more Alcatraz’s left leg was pulverized, and once more roaring pain echoed up his mangled leg.
And then, Zakr once more struck out and Alcatraz once more readily surrendered to instinct. Zakr’s cowkick would take time (as a cowkick swings outwards and forward and then curves out, rather than a simple quick kick), and keep in mind Alcatraz, while thoroughly crippled (he hobbles on that mangled left leg of his, struggling to maintain his footing in the snow), is a much faster breed than Zakr, his revaal and ancestry once more helping him to the best of its abilities. Alcatraz would not, could not, possibly let Zakr once more attack that leg. By the time Zakr slowed down (a cowkick is on three legs, remember), positioned himself, swung his leg forwards and outwards and then backwards, Alcatraz’s front leg would be long out of sight. In reality, Alcatraz would almost be passing Zakr, but for the sake of taking a hit where it’s designated, he once more felt the unyielding attack rip through his already mutilated leg – and this time, Alcatraz stumbled. Luckily, Zakr had struck him right as he was lifting the leg up, but unfortunately it knocked him out of balance and a rush of acidic agony ripped up his left leg, nestling deep within tendon and ligament. It was all he could do to stifle a cry of panic as Earth closed in around him, smothering and suffocating him relentlessly. He regained his footing, scrambling hazardously (though thankfully, he had 3 perfectly functioning legs and a horse can be quite proficient on that amount) until he regained his purchase in the snow – which did nothing to improve his injuries.
Injured, battered (his left leg bloodied and mangled beyond recognition), but unbowed, he regarded Zakr imperiously and returned to the shores from whence he came.
