Brisingr was a little amazed that the mare had taken two hooves to her ribs and hardly slowed down. Brisingr’s breath would have been shortened if only momentarily, even glancing getting a kick in the ribs was no small feat. But enough of this, Brisingr concentrated upon the other gray mare and soon saw her teeth and eyes flash in a blur of snow and yellow. She jerked to her side instinctively, her front legs angling away from the path that they had previously been on. Her body would follow and it would take her out away from the mare in her attack. However, Ulaume’s teeth grazed down the cheekbone of Brisingr and she felt her ears fall back into her mane to hide beneath the tendrils of hair. She felt the sharp pain of hooves striking her cannon bone and even though the hooves were glancing as she moved away she felt the pain up through her knee and to her shoulder.
She drew a breath between clenched teeth before her second attack.
She is surprised by the attack that came so suddenly from Ulaume’s hooves. Though it would have been difficult indeed to hit her belly as she reared at her right side and aimed to hit the middle of the other mare’s barrel. Ulaume would have had to angle herself outwards even just slightly to get such an angle to Brisingr’s belly. She saw the other mare’s weight shifting forwards but there was nothing that she could do to avoid the attack. She closed her eyes and waited for the impact that Ulaume’s hooves would have upon her body. It was when she felt hooves on her flank and stifle that she released the breath she had been holding in a hiss. When she landed she felt the blood rushing to the spot and the muscles around there swelling. She did not bother to move after this second attack of Ulaume’s (despite what her writer said previously) and instead just bobbed her head in a job well done to the other mare and waited.
OOC- just wanted to let you know that the crappiness of this post was brought on by my inability to concentrate on what I was writing being sick and all. Thanks judges :D
