It was snowing, ever snowing in the land of the Krieg lately. She snorted standing in place and waiting for her challenger to appear before her. She did not stomp her hooves or scream a challenge to him. In fact she was rather quiet, and with the snow falling down around her (the cold wind biting into her skin), when she did not move she looked invisible. Her gray coat blending in with the snow as it landed on her coat. When she saw the other mare, she smiled before she quickly pushed herself off into a canter. It was a nice and slow canter, almost a trot but definitely not. She would sacrifice her own body for power in this fight. She was balanced and pulled her head in closer to her chest as she cantered over towards her opponent. She came out of the snow almost like an apparition. But she wasn’t that good. She still made noise as the snow crunched beneath her hooves and her breathing began coming a little bit shorter in her quicker pace.
She did not hesitate in attacking, pulling along parallel to Ulaume. Once her barrel was level with the other mares, she took one more quick step just out to the side so that their bodies were angled to one another. She wanted to take out the bigger muscles in the shoulder so that it hurt like hell when Ulaume tried to put her weight upon it. She shifted her weight upon her front legs and kicked her hind legs out behind her towards the bottom of the shoulder muscle, the forearm and the elbow. She kicked out hard, wanting to do as much damage as possible. If Ulaume did not move (we all know that wouldn’t happen), her hooves would hit their mark and sharp pains would shoot through the muscles there in the front left leg everytime that Ulaume put weight on it. If she shot forwards, then Brisingr’s hooves would connect with the beginning of the barrel and rib cage. If her hooves hit there, then ribs would probably break, making her short of breath and in terrible pain whenever she moved or took a breath. If Ulaume reared, then Brisingr’s hooves would attack the leg itself. All it would take is one good hit there before a bone broke or cracked and the other mare would be out of the fight.
Then Brisingr landed and she slipped, stumbling a few steps and feeling some muscles pull in her chest and barrel from the motion of trying to stay on her feet. She grunted with the aching pain but continued on. She trotted now, doing a nice extended trot to eat up the ground quickly. She circled out around Ulaume again, pressing up against her opposite side eventually (she had no doubt that Ulaume was on the move or trying to depending on where she had just been hit).
Brisingr stuck to her side like a bur, smiling as she remembered Legend and the way the mare had stuck to her too. Soon though, Brisingr slowed while Ulaume continued on and shifted her weight upon her back legs. She struck out with her hooves, trying to land some blows upon Ulaume’s barrel and the ribs that were housed there. She aimed for the middle of the mare’s barrel, wanting to give as little room as possible for the other mare to avoid the attack on her ribs. If her hooves struck on the ribs they could possibly break or crack and again, Ulaume would be in pain with every step and every breath that she took. If the mare continued forwards, she would just hit farther back on the barrel. If she managed to move quickly enough to the side, it would just lessen the attack upon her ribs
Brisingr landed again, feeling the muscles in her chest and side that had been overly stretched from her fall pulling and tugging at her again. She grunted, snorting her irritation at her own pain that had happened from slipping in the footing. It hurt her but it was something that she could easily ignore with the adrenaline of the battle. She stood there and stopped, seeing where Ulaume was injured before she moved off to her left and went at an easy, slow canter away from Ulaume so she had to work harder to catch her and use those injured muscles. Then Brisingr waits for the attacks that she knows is coming. She keeps an eye on Ulaume, never letting her disappear from her sights and Brisingr curled around her in her easy slow canter.
