Truebash, you think that the club's reputation may be damaged by unsuitable postings but we've had what I consider to be many such postings on Pete's board and the club has survived. Regular readers of the board know who the serious posters are and respond accordingly. I don't think we'll look stupid in your words as a result of two boards.
You refer to the "official" board but that is what it certainly is not. The site is a hybrid at the moment. The best two aspects are the match reports which are second to none in their timeliness and in their accuracy and the archive which I don't know is available elsewhere. The forum is just a bit of fun.
It is an independent site and any news about signings etc. are only released as and when the club (executive committee) choose to do so. There is a section on sponsorship e.g. individual players, but unless I've missed something I do not even know who has re-signed for next season apart from one or two players. Has Danny Smith signed up, has Matt Parnell's injury cleared up?
I should have thought that Pete's sterling efforts should have at least warranted a mention of the site in the matchday programme and on one or two of the blank perimeter boards.
I think we all need to lighten up on this one and realise that come August we'll all be supporting the same team irrespective of one (or two) trivial matters on the subject of forums.
There's a fair dose of scaremongering in this post and I suspect the forum won't go away just yet.
