Salinas Valley is another hour and a half northwest, and is much
more beautiful than the poor area I am referring to.
There is plenty of water in the San Joaquin-Sacramento River from
December to June, but liberal state and national environmentalists
have succeeded in shutting off water deliveries south to our area
to protect the delta smelt. The result is the devastation of rich
farmlands, massive unemployment particularly among farmworkers,
and the bankrupting of businesses and communities.
