Your dogs, as you describe them, seem to be athletic. If they can run for extended periods, swim, jump and play without keeling over then they are athletic. Drive is a seperate characteristic entirely. There are many types of drive, but that is what motivates a dog to do certain tasks...some have prey drive, some are driven to please, some driven to retrieve, etc. I do not prefer a dog with high prey drive either...I don't want hyper dogs that are ready to jump at anything that moves. I prefer docile and calm dogs who can co exist in my home and interact as family, BUT...I want them to be athletic so that they can take walks with me, run and chase frisbees, retrieve balls, etc.
