We don't bullbait anymore. How many people who have Portugese water dogs use them to retrieve fishing nets.But thats what they were developed for and that is what the standard for that breed addresses. How many people do you know that still use terriers to exterminate rodents? I know a few but not many. But the terrier standards are for that purpose. Lots of people have Beagles that have never rabbit hunted but the ones being shown still have to meet that standard.
What you like is not the issue. The issue is what the breed direction is. If you like EB's that is fine breed EB's. That does not bother me. I have never once insulted or bashed your dogs. I think I was most complimentary of your dogs.
People are not concerned with the direction of your dogs in your yard, they are concerned about the breed as a whole.
Again you are taking this as a personal insult and it is not. You are free to breed your dogs to pugs or collies as far as I am concerned just don't expect it to be considered a Bulldogge by most OEB enthusiasts. Come up with your own name and register it with the CKC then develop your own standard and breed whatever you want. I just don't like the way that OEB's are disrespected by taking them backward. This breed will never be taken seriously when you see dogs that go to such extremes in different directions.
I wonder how many Labradoodle males the AKC will accept into the Labrador or Poodle registry?
