We are cutting back to the spring and fall this year and see how it does. Over the last few years turnout is great except for the warmer months. Most people had rather ride night tracks or go to the lake. It's not really worth staying up for three days watering and the track still not be good and have 50-60 riders. Plus it takes 3 or 4 days just to mow(bushog) 45 acres that the track is on. We will have some practices when it rains on Friday and the track will be good.
When we first started 9 years ago I talked to Mike Lambert(dirtbikemike) and he suggested having 3 or 4 races a year and you will come out better than racing every month. He was right. He also said not to let it become a job and the only thing you do in your spare time or you will get burnout and hate MX. He was right on that too, just took me a long time to realize it.
Going to take some time off after the May race to coach baseball, helpout at church more and just spend time with my family and not worry about the track.I might actually get to go to some races and not spend every weekend working on the track.
Sorry for the long answer, but that about sums it up. Hey I thought I seen you at NLC, have you been going there long?
