Thought I could 'edit' but apparently not, this is a re-post and addendum...
One of the last from Tony @ PopFlash. Absolutely mint GRD1, w/charger, two batteries and Ricoh GC-1 soft leather case, original box & papers, and all originally included accessories, wrist-strap, cables, etc . Truly like new. USA only (sorry!) $400.00 + FREE shipping (CONUS only), via USPS Priority mail (insured w/ delivery confirmation). This may still be posted on ebay; please reference... username blufront (and send me a PM from ebay if you care to check).
...and yes, to clarify an earlier inquiry at RicohForum; This is the first GRD (1, not 2), and was among the last models in stock @ Popflash, for sale as new, prior to becoming unavailable.
edit /additional info (3/15/09)...
Still available... not on ebay yet. I also have an R7, superb condition as well. For all that it could never compare to the upscale models in IQ, it doesn't take a 'bad' picture for what it is. I like the size, portability & zoom range, so I thought for my modest photo needs, I'd make due with it alone. Recently comparing the two cameras (there's really no comparison - the only way to compare them is not to), I'm kind of 'unsure' about selling the GRD now. It can shoot beautiful .jpgs, and incomparable B&W photos in the right hands. I just seldom use it (or the R7 for that matter), and I realize I don't need two digital P&S cameras.
I am asking, probably a higher price than (almost) anyone is willing to pay but as these things go, it's still considerably less than the cost of a new GRDII or GX200 and what have they really got on it? For what sets the GRD apart, these others still can't better it, and they're not making any more GRD's. There's always the thought of what future improvements hold in store, but time & time again though, at least from what I've seen of Ricoh (and many other manufacturers as well) it always seems to be a case of two steps forward and one step back. This original GRD has something special about it that I think won't be reproduced. Some may be very happy about that,
but it still has a certain character that sets it apart, and with all of its warts - I think for those who truly appreciate it - it'll hold up. It'll sustain their enthusiasm. I hope somebody reading this is one of those people. I have the love for it and appreciation, just not the requisite need (or probably even the skill).
So far no interest, no emails, inquiries or counter offers. My fingers remain crossed.... (if, or when YOU do buy it, I can only assure you that you'll not be able to tell the difference between it and a new camera)... and if it doesn't sell, my own keeping it won't be the worst thing in the world.
Cheers,
