Simon swelled; sheer particles of air and earth – like the turning tide he rose and fell, at once colossal and minute. He took the form of nothing, not air nor earth, but gradually pieces of him began to assemble like sand particles in the wind pushed aside. His air bounded and billowed around him, and the low rumble of the earth constantly communicated with him.
Eithne, his earth growled savagely, rumbling along the ground as it found her. And a small hare appeared, doused in typical winter garb. It twitched its nose at the mare, flicking an ear towards her.
Come, it says --
follow me. Small shoots of grass pierced the snow where she stood, creating a small path that lead directly to Simon. It was a strange and wonderful sight, the small shoots poking through the alabaster scenery and then withdrawing once Eithne had passed.
Dane, his air howled, shrieking and bounding as it tore through the horizon to find the horse.
Are you ready for your first task?. And a similar hare, this time cloaked in strange grey, appeared. And once it found Dane, it blasted through snow, creating a jagged path for Dane to take to find his newly appointed teacher. The hare took the path, halting to confirm the horse would follow suit.
Follow the white rabbit. Simon thinks wryly.
He exercised at once his newest seer ability, and it was this that allowed him to find his two new students’ names. He loathed the idea of probing in their minds (private thoughts, and what not) and stifled his curiosity; gleaning only enough to acquire their names.
Hopefully they will be ready, his earth muttered. His air fluttered faintly in assent.
But Simon doesn’t hope – he knows
