The Academy: this night whispers my name

The moon hung low in the midnight sky, shining a little too bright for my liking. Sighing as I moved along the nice, firm ground, I looked about me, trying to figure out where exactly I was. I knew, somehow, that I was searching for something. However, I began to get distracted with how I was walking. The firm ground felt so nice under my hooves, my weight no longer needed to shift to keep myself from slipping on the sand that covered the ground of Ni’Srilan.

Suddenly, a bout of paranoia set in. Something felt… intrusive. I knew it had to be my imagination, but suddenly I could feel something. Just as I began to slow my pace, I heard someone coming up a little ways behind me. Before I could react, I heard my name being called, and I snapped my head around to see who in the world would know my name. A chill ran down my spine. I hadn’t told anyone within weeks of this place. How was it possible that this one would know???

I watched the stallion in the light that was provided by the moon, still hanging low in the dark sky above us. I was close enough to hear him speak without him having to raise his voice, but I wasn’t entirely sure I wanted to get any closer.

My ears twitched as I took in the rest of his words. Teacher? And why in the lord’s name would I need a teacher? Jeez. The people here seem to think I know everything. I haven’t a clue what goes on in this place, I just happened to wander on in here. They gave me a title, but that doesn’t mean I know what it means. I decided that I should at least… make myself feel like I’ve introduced myself. Maybe.

“How do you know my name?”

Okay, so my mouth is demanding things of its own accord. At least I’m being adamant about getting answers? I wasn’t quite sure. I noticed that goofy smile plastered on his face. My own face showed next to no emotion… and what little did show was fairly hard to interpret. Teacher. Huh. But hopefully this helpful young steed would help give me the answers I was looking for.

And besides, if he’s my “teacher”, it’s his job, isn’t it?
