The Academy: earth and sea

She was glad that the mare had not looking into her mind, because she knew what she would have found. She would have found nightmares covered carefully with a youthful smile. Covered in a sincere look. Covered in lies. Oceantree had learned at such a young age what hate and fear were. What death was. What pain and suffering was. She had learned what betrayal was. Now she was a torn mess, waiting for the right moment to implode. To become what she was - a horrible monster just waiting.

The mare's voice broke her mind's concentration though. She nodded briefly, before listening further. She smiles. Why did she wish to be called Raven? The question burns her lips, but her voice is silent. Indeed she had lived in the mountains. For a while anyway. But now the desert seemed to cover the lush smell of the range. Always a wolf. Never a viper. And yet she was somehow both.

The next question made her hesitate. "Yes...I have..." But she didn't reveal anything else about the subject. How could she tell. Especially now that her father was...changing. She knew. Since the day she remembered she knew he was not the same. She slowly nods her head again, but then corrects herself slightly. "I understand what I am...but I am always learning." Icarus had taught her that the water would always protect her. And Kurai showed her that the earth would also protect her. Together they gave her power and protection all in one. She knew she could change her shape. For now it was merely entertaining and virtually nothing more. "There are things I still cannot quite control." She would have blushed slightly if she could. Illusionist was a fickle thing. Sure it would protect her, but her mind was its ultimate downfall.

The mare's last statement brought her mind back around to her parents. Did she perhaps know that Oceantree was holding back? Not wanting to reveal such secrets to just anyone. To basically a stranger. The touch made her sigh. It was a gentle sound. "My mother was Larxene...she is from the old element. She was here too, for a while, from what I can remember anyway. She is gone now." The sigh now was a sadder sound. The image of her mother was starting to fade and wash away. She had so little time with her. "My father..." She couldn't help but hesitate. "My father is Kale...but he doesn't know. He doesn't remember me." It was more likely that Larxene had hidden Oceantree from him, but the she did not want to believe so she left it out. "I have been afraid to tell him...I don't know what he would think." Or what he would do.

He was changing after all and she didn't know why.
