At first when Hypatia spoke, the stallion settled. His body froze completely and then relaxed, his eyes once more half closed although it never really mattered whether they remained wide open or fell shut beneath the long lashes that lined their lids; the world was dark regardless. But still Xolotl could see. The future was upon them, the cusp of greatness thrust upon the gray mare that clung to his side and he to hers as they spoke in the hushed tones of a courting pair if not the tone of father and daughter - but this story was far too grand for a father to ever make up. It was one that could not be stolen away from fiction but only created and concocted in the mind of those who thought to free the world from bitter oppression! When she spoke again, he could feel her smile, he could feel the way her body urged him to go on while thoughts and anxiousness coursed through her body. For that moment he got a perfect mental image of the slightly dappled mare, one of impetuousness and womanly nosiness that rode hand in hand with great power and dignity. Oh Hypatia to him you have become a Julie Andrews, such a lovely connotation to acquire, of that I promise you.
“No… Adranus has passed and with him true evil has come to rise without any to stop her. She only fails because she wishes to, each time getting closer to the Jaegers, each time learning more about them by being held captive. I speak of Mab, she is the one who wishes to destroy Alshain and took Kurai to the land of the rogues. She is why I have been forced to grow the pelt of a wolf instead of wear the wings of a bird.”
The stallion spoke with a quiet candor, his lips slowly working the crest of her neck and the length of her mane - the beauty of it’s sea salt caked silkiness refined and combed by the wind and the surf that touched her. He could smell the sea upon her heated flesh, he could taste it if he liked his lips of velveteen. To him, Hypatia was a dream, one so worthy of dreaming - the first of a friend that Xolotl had never had and yet seemed to eager and easily subdued when it came to talking with, cuddling, and pleasing her as they spoke. Such strange things for the sightless beast. He was quiet for a short while after she spoke her questions, emotion of pride bubbling in his brazen gold chest, laughter bursting in his mind. Not angry or cruel laughter, but true gentle laughter as he pressed his nose behind her ear and spoke with his voice no louder then a whisper.
“I have no love for Wolfrange, no love for her King… I’ve gone there because I had no choice, my life is Mab’s until another claims it or sets me free - takes me to a world where I am indeed wanted and loved. I’ve found my Queen, I honor her with my words and my thoughts at this very moment. She will be glorious and I will fight for her until the last of my breath is stolen from my body by time… She is you Hypatia, the Queen of the sea, the voice of the shores… She is you.” The steed was bold within reason as he spoke his words so softly, poised with pride and dignity this prophecy he had come to attempt to fulfill. He spoke of the future as if he knew it written long before the chain of events had happened… And he did. His story was written, spoken, placed into the cup of his blood long before the Jaegers had risen and asked for Caiaphas to be taken down. The poor mourning son of a b###h that he was. Long live the Seaglimmer, or so Xolotl thought. And then she spoke again, her body pressing deeper and warmer into his side, and again he draped his magnificently crested neck over hers to hold her to him as if they huddled against a storm together, protecting one another from the elements that dare come to try and claim a piece of them. And then came his challenge… The words ringing loudly in his ears stood still. He weighs her words, the wise Hypatia. He opened his mouth to refute her, but all at once shut it with a gentle nod of his handsome head. Oh Hypatia how you ask of him to forget his insecurities, to follow his feet to a world where he may indeed become rebuffed. “I know where I want to be, Hypatia… But I am lacking the ability to get there, to stay there.” His loyalty lay solid with a gray mare blessed by fire, the only one to see past his flaws for the beauty that truly lay beneath. She held his trust, she was his eyes, in truth she was his everything though he may never come right out and say it. “Trade Mab for me, send her back to where she belongs and take me where I can live in peace, to live out my days guarding and guiding you when it is you who needs guidance, to find love, happiness, peace.” It seems as though as the world fades around them into the colors so vibrantly displayed in his mind, the stallion had made his choice and perhaps had found his Eden.
