Little is known about the Stone that was shattered by Andürien centuries ago. The Earth elementals whisper that upon its shattering, it was split into 5 weakened pieces - Fire, Water, Earth, Air, and Lightning. On their own, the shards held only a shadow of the power they used to house. After Andürien's leave, the Element was quieted once more - but when her spirit birthed twin daughters, Mirage and Alluette, all began anew. The shards, desperate to regain power, lent some of it to the horses who called the second coming of the Element home, and as they grew stronger, so did the shards. Sins rose among the people. Demons were released upon the living land. The shards greedily satiated themselves on the bloodlust, but too strongly - the war split the land to irreparable harm, and those who survived fled. The Element was empty once more. And the shards, starved now for energy, grew even less powerful.
When Arrakis and Requiem arrived on its scarred flesh, the shards released their final power. It seems that their existence is dependent on the residents who use the abilities of each Element, and this last desperate measure drained what little corruptive power they held. Inactive but not entirely extinguished, the fatigued shards live on only because the residents here continue to grow in power - but this time, as each horse grows stronger in their element, the shards do not feel this energy. Something must be done to reactivate them. For the first time since Andürien's death, they seek to be found. They will choose a Keeper. And They will reveal no other plan.
KALE and NYOTA - you have been chosen by the Elementals to seek a piece of the Stone. Having been shattered into five pieces, one for each Element, the shards are only a fraction as powerful as they used to be, and are near lifeless. Desperate they call to you, promising the rewards of Seeing if you can find them. The first Shard has given you this riddle as to its location:
"Find me, scholars who seek;
For I lie beneath ribbons of gold.
But you know better than to start at the end,
You must start where predators roam."
"Listen not to Gargouille
For he would lead you astray.
Instead seek the path where all colors collide,
And meet those you see everyday."
"But longer still, you must walk,
Where glory is won without sword.
The conditions there may be seldom ideal
But that's comfort you cannot afford."
"Finally, scholars who seek!
Slip beneath rock that could fall.
They say the grass here grows from their blood
And colors the uneven walls."
"I made ocean and flame equal.
But I am only one of these."
It has given you clues about what land to start in, and which lands you should travel through in order to get to the final destination. All lands are established places within the Element. When 'seeking' this shard, be sure you describe your horse's journey as they walk through each of these locations, and a brief reason why they think they are headed in the right direction. This is very much up to your imagination. When you think you have arrived in the final destination and have located the shard, again list your reasons and a detailed spot where it is according to the clues you were given (i.e. Near a river in Ersatz, or under a rock in the Reef - could even be in an open field somewhere, but list WHY you think it's there). Extra points if you know which PART of the stone it was (fire, water, earth, air, or lightning) and why.
Both of you are eligible to pass the Quest if done correctly, but the first one to complete it to satisfaction will actually keep the shard. The only other help we can offer is that you will travel through 4 lands, including where you begin and end. The riddle is not meant to be impossible, only to challenge you as you strive to impress us. You have 7 days to complete this challenge as the Quest ends at midnight on March 30th. No word limit, and be as creative as you like! Any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
